SNDTST.COM : GUESS THE GAME, PAX Panel
I was privileged to participate in a panel at the world renowned game convention PAX West, with Jason Sperske, owner of SNDTST.com. Jason approached me with a need for branded shirts for the Hosts of the panel(which included me). His idea was to run a guessing game where participates would listen to music from a video game, and guess what game it is from.
Using found textures and imagery, I proceeded to test which would generate a proper pixelated giant eyeball planet texture. Once I found the optimal texture and low-fi conversion settings, I fleshed out the entire planet eyeball, adding highlights and shadows, and a big scary iris. The planet looked 8-bits of awesome, but needed more of a threatening reveal. By removing colors from the northern hemisphere, I was able to achieve the effect of the orb slowly coming out of the blackness of space.
I also created Playing Cards to divide participates into teams. Each Card contains a game sprite silhouette which also acted as the first question for each team, "Guess the sprite".
Be sure to check out SNDTST.com and see if you can Guess the Game!
