New brand, who dis?In Greek mythology, Asclepius is the god of medicine and healing. He is often depicted holding a staff with a serpent coiled around it, which later became the symbol associated with medicine and healthcare professions. According to dental insurance provider Delta Dental, the combined symbols of the omicron (O), delta (Δ) represents "having teeth", while joined with the Staff of Asclepius became the official symbol of dentistry in the 1960's.
